Madrid and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, December 30th 2010.- Grupo HOSPITEN and Cartera Industrial REA have acquired a majority stake in the share capital of the Oncology Centre MD Anderson International España, subsidiary of MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, U.S.A.) and global reference in cancer treatment.

The Oncology Centre MD Anderson International España is an excellent reference in Europe for cancer treatment, being a subsidiary of the prestigious "University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center", leader in the United States in cancer care according to "Best Hospitals", the renowned publication of U.S. News & World Report.

Located in Arturo Soria street, Madrid, the centre is currently equipped with modern facilities which include 87 hospital beds and more than 150 medical specialists, as well as state-of-the-art technological equipment. This infrastructure, together with the constant and close co-operation in research, diagnosis and treatment protocols with MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, U.S.A.), makes  MD Anderson International Spain a leading oncology centre in Europe. This focus on research is channelled through the "Fundación MD Anderson International España ", a non-profit organisation whose goal is to achieve the cure for cancer through research and prevention, encouraging the training of students and specialists in all fields that may be related with the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
