Last November 29, Moreno Garcia, pediatrician at Hospiten Estepona and the Algeciras Medical Specialty Center, gave a conference on "Fever in Children" at the El Patio de mi Casa playschool in Algeciras.

Fever is a reaction of the body to an infectious agent (virus, bacteria, fungi or parasites) or other causes of inflammation. Many parents were interested in such a common subject that causes so much concern and uncertainty about what is the right thing to do when a child has a high temperature.

How to measure the temperature, at what point does a high temperature become fever, what is the right medication, what are the main warnings, were some of the main points dealt with. The doctor also advised parents of the way cases may differ depending on the age of the child.

Once Dr Moreno had concluded his presentation, the parents asked questions, one of the most discussed being that of convulsions in a child.
